Efrem Ivanovich Zverkov (born 1921) is a People's Artist of the USSR, professor, and Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts (since 1992). He studied under N. Ya. Borisov and entered the All-Russian Academy of Arts in 1939. He held leadership positions in the Artists' Unions of the USSR and RSFSR and was a member of the International Council of Museums. From 1995 to 1999, he oversaw the restoration of the paintings in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. A laureate of State Prizes of the RSFSR and the Russian Federation, he has been awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland (IV class), the Order of Honour, the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, and other state decorations.
