Pavel Fyodorovich Sudakov was a People's Artist of the RSFSR (1982) and a laureate of the USSR State Prize and the I. E. Repin State Prize of the RSFSR (1984). He studied at the V. I. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute. A veteran of World War II, he directed the art studio of the border troops from 1943 to 1947. He became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1947. He held leadership positions in the Moscow Union of Artists and was a member of the art council of the M. B. Grekov Studio. He created historical paintings, portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. His works are held in the State Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, and other major museums.
