Sergey Mikhailovich Solovyov (1820–1879) was a prominent Russian historian, academician (1872), and author of the monumental work 'History of Russia from the Earliest Times'. In his works, he viewed Russian history as a process of the development of statehood and national life as a whole. In addition to his primary work, he left behind numerous individual studies and over 300 journal articles.
