A renowned Latvian marine painter. From 1938 to 1947, he studied at the Art Academy of Latvia under A. Annuss, K. Ubans, and V. Purvitis, graduating from Elias's figurative painting studio with his diploma work, "The Return." He became a member of the Latvian Artists' Union in 1950 and was named an Honored Artist of the Latvian SSR in 1980. His first solo exhibition was held at the Liepaja Museum in 1945; in total, he held over 20 solo exhibitions. He is considered one of the prominent representatives of the Latvian school of painting, with his work primarily focused on seascapes.
