Valery Grigoryevich Kokurin is a painter and People's Artist of Russia (1998). Since 1954, he worked in restoration workshops. He became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1960. He is a representative of the "Vladimir School of Landscape," which gained recognition in the 1960s. A participant in numerous exhibitions, he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts (2005) and the V. I. Surikov Gold Medal (2010). His works are held in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, and other major collections.
