Viktor Grigoryevich Kalinin is a painter and monumentalist. He received his education at art schools in Krasnoyarsk (1960–1962) and Nizhny Novgorod (1962–1965), as well as at the Higher School of Art and Industry (formerly Stroganov School, 1965–1971). He has been a member of the Union of Artists since 1974. From 1995, he taught at the Department of Academic Painting at the Stroganov Moscow State University of Design and Applied Arts. In 2001, he was elected a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts. His works are held in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Dresden Gallery, the Peter Ludwig Museum of Contemporary Art in Cologne, and other major museum and private collections.
