Sergey Vasilyevich Gerasimov (1885–1964) was a Soviet painter, People's Artist of the USSR (1958), Doctor of Art History (1956), and full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1947). He studied at the Stroganov School and the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under S. V. Ivanov and K. A. Korovin. He is known as a master of landscape and historical-revolutionary themes, author of the paintings "Mother of a Partisan" (1943) and "Collective Farm Festival" (1937). He served as First Secretary of the Board of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1958–1964) and was an active educator.
