Vasily Osipovich Fomichev (1924–1992) was a Russian realist painter, landscape artist, and Honored Artist of the RSFSR. Born in the village of Elkhovka, Saratov Region, he studied at the Saratov Art School (1939–1942, 1945–1947) under B. V. Milovidov, V. F. Gurov, and I. N. Shcheglov. In 1947, he began working at the Saratov branch of the Art Fund of the RSFSR. A member of the USSR Union of Artists since 1960, he served as deputy chairman of the Saratov branch (1979–1989). His work is inextricably linked to the Volga landscapes. He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor (1976). In 2003, a gallery bearing his name was opened in Saratov.
