Obrosov Igor Pavlovich

Igor Pavlovich Obrosov (1930–2010) was a painter, monumentalist, graphic artist, People's Artist of the RSFSR, and laureate of the State Prizes of the USSR and the Russian Federation. He was a full member and member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts and a prominent representative of the 'severe style'. He graduated from the Moscow Higher School of Art and Industry in 1954. He received international awards in Norway (1974) and Czechoslovakia (1980), as well as the M.B. Grekov Gold Medal (1983). His solo exhibitions have been held at the State Russian Museum and abroad. His works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and the Russian Academy of Arts.
