Nalbandyan Dmitry Arkadyevich

Dmitry Arkadyevich Nalbandyan (1906–1993) was a Soviet painter, People's Artist of the USSR (1969), and full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1953). He studied at the Tbilisi Academy of Arts (1924–1929) under E. E. Lanceray and E. Tatevosyan. He was an author of paintings on historical-revolutionary themes, as well as portraits and landscapes. His works include 'S. M. Kirov's Speech at the 17th Party Congress' (1935), a portrait of I. V. Stalin (1945, State Tretyakov Gallery, USSR State Prize 1946), 'Power to the Soviets — Peace to the Peoples' (1950, USSR State Prize 1951), and 'On the Eve of the October Revolution' (1970–1973). He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
