Mylnikov Andrey Andreevich

Andrey Andreyevich Mylnikov (b. 1919) was a Soviet and Russian painter, People's Artist of the USSR (1976), full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1966), and Hero of Socialist Labor. He graduated from the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1946), where he studied under I. E. Grabar and V. M. Oreshnikov. A professor, he taught at the Repin Institute for over 50 years, leading the monumental painting studio. He was a laureate of the Lenin Prize (1984), the Stalin Prize (1951), and State Prizes of the USSR and the RSFSR. He was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of Friendship of Peoples, and the Order of Merit for the Fatherland (III and IV classes). His works are held in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and other major museums.
