Krylov Porfiry Nikitich

Porfiry Nikitich Krylov was a full member of the USSR Academy of Arts and a People's Artist of the USSR. He graduated from VKhUTEIN in 1927, studying under A. A. Osmerkin, A. V. Shevchenko, and A. P. Konchalovsky. As part of the 'Kukryniksy' collective (alongside M. V. Kupriyanov and N. A. Sokolov), he worked in political satire, poster art, and book illustration. As an independent painter, he excelled in portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. He was a laureate of the Lenin Prize, six USSR State Prizes, and the I. E. Repin State Prize of the RSFSR. From 1947 to 1949, he served as a member of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Arts. His works are held in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the N. P. Krylov Art Museum in Tula, and the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
