Zhilinsky Dmitry Dmitrievich

Dmitry Dmitrievich Zhilinsky was a People's Artist of Russia, a full member of the Russian Academy of Arts, and a laureate of the State Prizes of the RSFSR and the Russian Federation. In the 1970s and 1980s, he served on the boards of the Unions of Artists of the RSFSR and the USSR, and in 1993 he became a full member of the Russian Academy of Education. He oversaw the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute and served on the editorial board of the 'Tvorchestvo' magazine (1965–1995). He was known as a master who personally executed all stages of painting, from priming the canvas to crafting the frames.
