Andrey Andreyevich Tutunov was a recognized master of contemporary Russian art and a prominent representative of the 1960s generation of artists. His work is characterized by sincerity, rare integrity, and depth of content. The main themes of Tutunov's work were the Russian provinces, the daily life of its people, and the understated beauty of the native landscape. Through images of ordinary people, the artist affirmed the significance of the moral foundations of folk life. Tutunov was a People's Artist of the RSFSR, a full member of the Russian Academy of Arts, and was awarded silver and gold medals by the Academy. His solo exhibitions were held in Moscow in 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 2008, and 2009. His works are held in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and other major museums.
