Tseitlin Grigory Izrailevich

Grigory Izrailevich Tseitlin (1911–2000) was a painter, Honored Artist of Russia, and member of the USSR Union of Artists. He graduated from the Odessa Art Institute (1932), where he studied under A. Shovkunenko, D. Krainev, A. Gaush, and T. Fraerman. In 1940–1941, he attended advanced training courses at the V. I. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute. He is best known as a master of portraiture and still life, characterized by subtle color handling and a lyrical, musical quality. His works are held in the State Tretyakov Gallery, regional Russian art museums, and private collections abroad.
