Sysoev Nikolai Alexandrovich

Nikolai Alexandrovich Sysoev was a Russian and Soviet painter, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, and People's Artist of Russia. He graduated from the V. I. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute in 1948, where he studied under V. V. Favorsky, I. I. Chekmazov, and M. F. Shemyakin. He worked in the genres of portraiture, landscape, and still life, and was the author of genre paintings and the "Leniniana" series. He had been a regular participant in exhibitions since 1949. In 1987, he founded an art gallery in the village of Lev Tolstoy in the Lipetsk region. His works are held in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Historical Museum, and other museum collections.
