Sudakov Pavel Fedorovich

Pavel Fyodorovich Sudakov was a People's Artist of the RSFSR (1982), a laureate of the USSR State Prize, and the I. E. Repin State Prize of the RSFSR (1984). He studied at the V. I. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute. A veteran of the Great Patriotic War, he headed the art studio of the Border Troops from 1943 to 1947. He became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1947. He worked in historical painting, portraiture, landscape, and still life. He held leadership positions in the Moscow Union of Artists. His works are held in the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, and other major museums.
