Sorokin Ivan Vasilevich

Ivan Vasilyevich Sorokin was a landscape painter, People's Artist of the RSFSR, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, and laureate of the I. E. Repin State Prize of the RSFSR. He graduated from the V. I. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute in 1952, studying in the workshop of S. V. Gerasimov. He became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1953. He is known for his landscapes that capture the subtle moods of nature. His works are held in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and many other museums worldwide. He was awarded the Order of Honor and the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts.
