Shmarin Dmitry Alexandrovich

Dmitry Alexandrovich Shmarin (born 1967) is a painter, Honored Artist of Russia (2011), and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2010). He graduated from the N. V. Tomsky Moscow Secondary Art School and the V. I. Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute (under V. I. Zabelin). He completed internships at the Berlin University of the Arts (1992) and the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris (2003). Since 1994, he has worked at the Russian Academy of Arts. He has been a member of the Union of Artists of Russia since 1995. He was awarded a gold medal by the Russian Academy of Arts (2005) and a medal from the Union of Artists of Russia (2002). His works are held in the collection of the Moscow Patriarchate, major corporate collections, and private collections in Russia and abroad.
