Satel Georgy Eduardovich

Georgy Eduardovich Satel (born 1917) is a painter and a member of the Union of Artists. In 1937, he studied at the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions art studio under K. Dorokhov and S. Boim, and in 1938 he entered the Surikov Institute, where he studied under A. Lentulov and P. Pokarzhevsky. In 1947, he first participated in the exhibition 'Moscow in the Works of Artists'. In 1951, he was awarded the Stalin Prize for his painting 'New Theme'. From 1959 to 1961, he taught at the Moscow Pedagogical Institute. During the 1960s–1980s, he made numerous creative trips to Central Asia and along the rivers of Russia. In 1973, he participated in the 'Exhibition of 13' by Moscow artists.
