Pokarzhevsky Pyotr Dmitrievich

Pyotr Dmitrievich Pokarzhevsky was a Russian and Soviet painter, graphic artist, educator, professor at the V. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute, and a member of the Moscow Union of Artists. He studied at the Kiev Art School and the Higher Art School under the Academy of Arts under Y. F. Tsyonglinsky, G. R. Zaleman, and N. S. Samokish. In the 1920s, he organized art workshops and a museum in Tula. He taught at the Moscow Art School in Memory of 1905. His work focused on thematic paintings in a realistic style. His works are held in the Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and other major museum collections.
