Nemukhin Vladimir Nikolaevich
1925
Vladimir Nikolaevich Nemukhin (1925–2017) was a Russian artist and a representative of unofficial art. From 1943 to 1946, he studied at the Moscow Art Studio of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions under P. E. Sokolov, discovering Post-Impressionism and Cubism. Nemukhin actively participated in avant-garde art exhibitions, including the 1974 "Bulldozer Exhibition." After early landscapes and experiments with Cubism and abstraction, the artist found his signature style in "still lifes with playing cards"—a distinctive manifestation of "Informel" that combined painterly expression with dramatic symbolic elements. In his later period, he often worked in mixed media on paper and created "counter-relief" canvases. At the turn of the 21st century, he lived in Germany; his works are held in the Tretyakov Gallery and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.
