Muller Johann Eduard

Johann Eduard Müller (1828–1895) was a prominent German sculptor. A student of Geefs in Antwerp, he lived in Rome from 1857, where he created a series of ideal statues and groups noted for their masterful technique and vitality, including 'Satyr with a Tragic Mask' (1870), 'Frightened Nymph', and 'Eve with Children' (1877). His colossal marble group 'Prometheus and the Oceanids' (1874–1879) is housed in the Berlin National Gallery.
