Minaev Vladimir Nikolaevich

Vladimir Nikolaevich Minaev (1912–1993) was a graphic artist, People's Artist of the RSFSR, and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts. In 1940, he graduated from the Moscow State Institute of Fine Arts, having studied under K. N. Istomin, I. I. Chekmazov, and I. E. Grabar. During the Great Patriotic War, he served as a front-line newspaper artist, and from 1945, he worked at the M. B. Grekov Studio of Military Artists. He is known as an illustrator of classic and Soviet literature and an author of easel graphic series. In 1967, he was awarded the Silver Medal of the USSR Academy of Arts for his illustrations to N. Ostrovsky's novel 'How the Steel Was Tempered'. He was a recipient of the Order of the Red Star and various Soviet medals.
