Meshkov Vasily Vasilyevich

Vasily Vasilyevich Meshkov (1893–1963) was a Russian painter, People's Artist of the RSFSR, and a full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1958). He studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under K. Korovin, S. Malyutin, and A. Korin. A master of the epic landscape, he also created wartime series such as "After the Enemy" and "In the Footsteps of the Occupiers." He was a laureate of the Stalin Prize for his "Kama" landscape series. His works are held in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, and many regional collections.
