Kugach Mikhail Yuryevich

Mikhail Yuryevich Kugach is an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and a full member of the Russian Academy of Arts. He studied at the Moscow Secondary Art School from 1949 to 1956 and graduated from the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute in 1962 (workshop of Professor P. D. Pokarzhevsky). He became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1965. From 1967 to 1968, he worked in the creative workshop of the USSR Academy of Arts under Professor B. V. Ioganson. Since 1963, he has been a regular participant in Union of Artists exhibitions. From 1987 to 1989, he served as the artistic director of the Moscow 1905 Memorial Art College. Since 1998, he has chaired the 'Moskvorechye' art association. He lives and works in the Tver region, near the I. E. Repin 'Academic Dacha'.
