The Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary was published by the joint-stock publishing company of the same name in Saint Petersburg between 1890 and 1907. It was released in two formats: 41 main volumes with 2 supplementary ones, and 82 main half-volumes with 4 supplementary ones. The editors included I. E. Andreevsky, K. K. Arsenyev, and F. F. Petrushevsky. The encyclopedia contains 121,240 articles, 7,800 illustrations, and 235 maps.
