Andronov Nikolai Ivanovich

Nikolai Ivanovich Andronov (1929–1998) was a People's Artist of the Russian Federation, a master of painting, and a key representative of the 'Severe Style'. He graduated from the Moscow Secondary Art School and later studied at the I. E. Repin Institute and the V. I. Surikov Institute. He gained widespread recognition for his painting 'Log Drivers' (1961). Andronov was also an active monumentalist, contributing to the interiors of the Pechora cafe, the Oktyabr cinema, and the Izvestia publishing house, for which he was awarded the USSR State Prize in 1979. His easel work is primarily defined by his series dedicated to the Russian North, particularly Ferapontovo. His works are held in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and other major museum institutions.
